about

MOGAN returns with their new EP, FEED. Progressing into a more visceral and nostalgic arena, FEED is the follow-up to 2020’s Gutter, which was later remixed by the likes of AYA and Sarahsson on the remix record GUT. This record moves from fairy tale (‘In Some Near Place’) to nightmarescape (‘Fall In’) picking up poignant synth pop gems (‘Onus’ and ‘Crease’) along the way. ‘MD5’ and ‘Angry Baby’ introduce vibrancy to an accomplished record in the form of a queer dance floor anthem and a Velvet Underground-style avant-pop closer, respectively. Beautiful artwork for the EP has been supplied by artist, Luke Roberts, and a stunning cello arrangement by Bethany Porter contributes to the churning eerie pallet of Fall In.

‘I like to play around with layers of atmosphere and noise, building a palette that I can then start to peel away. A bit like a musical argument, it can be texturally abrasive and then strikingly sparse when taking the time to reflect on the heat of the moment. The addition of chunky synths and my crooning vocals just builds on my warped sense of what electronic pop music can sound like.
The EP addresses the need for validation and the lengths we go to in order to scratch a curious itch. The joy and hate in the games we play with others and ourselves for short or long-term satisfaction. The lust for the heat of the moment and the regret for risks we should’ve just swallowed whole.’
